Explore Alongside Peers and Faculty
Faculty-Led Student Funding is an initiative that supports faculty efforts to engage with students by offering funded opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Campus-wide collaboration is encouraged among colleges, student affairs and student organizations.

Business to Industry
In partnership with the Paris Economic Development Cooperation (PEDC), the College of Business hosted its second annual event on March 31, 2023. The event featured presentations by multiple business executives who discussed their respective companies, including their economic contributions to the city, industry trends and challenges, and their Campus Culture and Climate Committee initiatives.
Shakespeare Students Attend Play
ENGL 311: In 2023, Shakespeare students attended the theatre department’s production of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. After the performance, the class shared a meal as they discussed their reactions to the play.
Art Students Visit Oklahoma Museums
Art 338: Students in the History of the Indigenous Arts of North America class took a field trip on April 28, 2023, to the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. The class viewed Native American art and experienced traditional Native American cuisine for lunch at ThirtyNine, a restaurant at the First Americans Museum.
Ceramics Students go to Dallas
Students in Advanced Ceramics attended the Dallas Art Fair in 2023 to see exhibitions of contemporary art presented by national and international art galleries.
Archeoastronomy Trip
Astronomy 260: The archeoastronomy class ventured to Chaco Canyon National Historical Site and Mesa Verde National Park in 2023.
Environmental Science Supplies
Supplies for class experiments enhanced final projects for students in the Introduction to Environmental Science courses during the Spring 2023 semester.
Writing Assessment Workshop
The Department of Literature and Languages hosted three experts in 2023. These individuals contributed to writing workshops on methods for centering ethics of care and linguistic justice (instead of punishment) in writing assessments.
Guided Tours in Poland
Students attended a guided tour of Auschwitz and the Wieliczka Salt Mine during the Poland study abroad course in 2023.
Study Abroad Trip to Italy
Transportation expenses were covered to enhance a study abroad trip to Italy for four students in 2023.
Trip to South Korea
Students received transportation and museum tickets during their study abroad trip to South Korea in 2023.
Nursing Students Visit Placement Sites
In 2023, Nursing Living and Learning Community students visited future nursing placement sites in Commerce, Greenville and Rockwall, Texas.
Trip to Mexico
Eight student teachers received covered transportation expenses to enhance their 2023 study abroad trip to Mexico.
Students Build Greenhouse
In 2023, students built a greenhouse for Commerce Elementary School. The funds covered the greenhouse kit, plants, seeds, pavers, transportation, all gardening materials, and more.
